Five minutes of mindfulness

Writer's picture: Clémence ProsenClémence Prosen

The past few weeks have been a constant rollercoaster. The world is in utter confusion. May

be you feel overwhelmed and stressed. That’s normal. I do too. We have no control on a lot of things at the moment. But as James Baldwin said “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” Right now, you just need to do what you can do, what you can have a direct impact on.

But, most importantly, you need to take a break from the world for a few minutes every day and take care of yourself. Promise me that just after reading this post, you will go to a quiet place in your home, switch off all your devices and do the following:

Breathe in – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Breathe out – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Breathe in - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Breathe out - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Go back to a normal breathing

Focus on your senses.

Focus on something you see. What do you see?

Focus on something you hear. What do you hear?

Focus on your taste. What do you taste?

Focus on your smell. What do you smell?

Focus on your hand and what you touch. What do you feel?

Focus on every place your body touch something and focus on how it feels.

Breathe in – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Breathe out – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Go back to a normal breathing

I hope this will help you to calm. This is a technique of meditation, that I use every day.

If you want to share your experience, don’t hesitate to comment on this post.
